The ability to disconnect quickly at the engine panel while still hooked to a charged hydrant allows an engine company to fight an unstable fire without the risk of being anchored in. Large volumes of water can be used to perform a more aggressive attack on the fire while at the same time keeping the firefighters in a safer position with mobility.
